(Paramount)

If Raymond Chandler, Terry Southern and Tex Avery did a bunch of speed and mescaline, then collaborated on a cartoon about a Duck P.I., his pig sidekick and his dysfunctional family, it might look a little like “Duckman.”

Part of the early ’90s renaissance of adult-oriented cartoons, including “Beavis and Butt-Head” and “Ren & Stimpy,” “Duckman” helped pave the way for “South Park” and the Adult Swim line-up on Cartoon Network.

With the voice talent of Jason Alexander and a theme song by Frank Zappa, it’s a surreal, crass, satirical, hyperactive, deadpan freak of a cartoon. and it holds up surprisingly well.
