What started as an hour-long journey quickly turned into two, three … five hours of watching this severely addicting series. Grace, played by Oscar award-winning Holly Hunter, is a bourbon drinkin’, ass-kickin’, blonde bombshell of a police officer/detective whose sinning ways attract the likes of a tobacco chewing, beer-bellied angel (literally, with wings and all) named Earl.
Earl first appears when Grace runs over a man driving home drunk and calls out for God’s help. After her detective friend tests the blood on her shirt, Grace learns the man she hit (who Earl saved) is actually a convict on death row, named Leon, locked up in a maximum-security prison.
Grace and Leon share Earl in common, and in a series of holy interventions realize they’re supposed to help each other, somehow. Why is the question.
Each episode has a “CSI” sort of mystery case mixed with some gratuitous, yet enjoyable sex (often involving role play and handcuffs) and sprinkled with some humor from the unorthodox angel.
