The conversation going on over the film could have been between Michael Ondaatje and Walter Murch, the two screenwriters are so engaging and well-read. (A dismal point: Meyer wonders if young viewers will get that the collapse of the Klingon Empire is a metaphor for the end of the Soviet Union. One passes from “Oh, c’mon…” to “Oh … oh no. He’s right.”)
