After skipping Starship Troopers 2, a direct-to-video sequel, Paul Verhoeven, the sickly genius mind behind a veritable cult classic library that includes Showgirls, Total Recall, Basic Instinct, RoboCop and the first ,i>Starship Troopers film, has returned along with Casper Van Dien as General Johnny Rico to continue the course of the last two films; The Bug War rages on and beautiful people are fighting it.

One of the film’s best moments is the totally gratuitous group nude scene as the Marauder Team prepares for battle. It wouldn’t be Verhoeven without boobs, but keep an eye out for Van Dien looking a little … excited.

Sadly, Marauder lacks the succulent campiness that makes films like this enjoyable. It’s not quite funny enough, nor is it laughably bad enough. It almost has real sci-fi merits. Where’s the fun in that?
