This not-just-for-kids flick is a feel-good, underdog-makes-good animated documentary on the fiercely competitive world of penguin surfing. Cody Maverick leaves his hometown of Shiverpool, Antarctica to compete in the Big Z memorial Surf Off. While on Pen Gu Island he stumbles on a hot, life saving chick, a surfing legend and the secret to true happiness, which isn’t always coming in first place.

With voices provided by Shia LaBeouf, Jeff Bridges, Zooey Deschanel, Jon Heder, Mario Cantone and professional surfers Kelly Slater and Rob Machado, Surf’s Up might just be the first of its kind: an animated doc.

Extras: interactive games, filmmaker commentary, animated short (The ChubbChubbs Save XMAS), documentary about the technical achievements in making the film, a music video of “Lose Myself” by Ms. Lauryn Hill.
