A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association revealed that the last 40 years has seen a significant increase in an aggressive form of breast cancer found in young women; these cases have increased about 2 percent every year since the 1970s. 

Due to the aggressive nature of metastatic breast cancer, oncologists have become increasingly concerned about the younger female population. Because this group is more likely to ignore recommended screening practices and to be uninsured, it is very likely that this epidemic could go undetected or untreated.
