We all knew the word “tweet” was real, but now the Oxford English Dictionary agrees with us. The latest edition of the OED will include a second definition of the word in addition to the current definition describing the common bird noise. Adding “tweet” as a social media word is revolutionary for the OED because they usually wait for a word to be relevant for 10 years before adding it. This helps prove that social media is rapidly becoming an important part of our communication world. With "tweet," more than 1,200 new words were also added to the new edition.
