'Beavis and Butt-Head: The Complete Collection'

'Beavis and Butt-Head' creator, Mike Judge has had an interesting life and career. Judge was born in Ecuador to American parents, graduated from UC, San Diego in 1986 with a physics degree and ended up as a programmer for fighter planes.  Eventually, he migrated to Silicon Valley and worked at a start-up video card company. Disliking the culture, Judge left the company and joined a blues band as a bass player. While taking graduate math classes at the University of Texas, Dallas in 1989, Judge came across some animation cells on display at a local movie theatre.  Sparking an interest in the young man’s mind, he purchased his own film equipment and started making animated short films. One of his films was purchased by 'Comedy Central.' Perhaps, realizing he was on to something, Judge continued to make short films in the early ‘90s while not giving up his music day job which at this point was playing in a band with Doyle Bramhall.

In 1992, before Judge found success with TV shows such as ‘Silicon Valley,’ ‘King of the Hill,’ ‘Daria’ and cult films, 'Office Space' and 'Idiocracy,' he made a short film called ‘Frog Baseball’ that featured the characters Beavis and Butt-Head.  The short appeared on an MTV animation showcase show called ‘Liquid Television.’  This lead to the creation of the ‘Beavis and Butt-Head’ series on MTV and a hit show and history were made.  Judge who voiced both characters, wrote and directed the majority of the shows.  ‘Beavis and Butt-Head’ centers on two socially incompetent, heavy metal-loving teenage wannabe delinquents, who go to high school at Highland High in New Mexico where Judge went to school. They have no apparent adult supervision at home, are dim-witted, barely literate, and both lack any empathy or moral scruples.

The show drew both positive and negative reactions and became ingrained in a generation of young people who followed the show religiously on MTV during its’ nine season run.  Now fans of all ages will be pleased that their beloved slackers are back in ‘Beavis and Butt-Head: The Complete Collection’ which is now available on DVD.  Once dismissed by critics as brainless couch potatoes who did nothing but watch TV and make lewd jokes about bodily functions, they are now lauded as ahead of their time. Beavis and Butt-Head's unique idiocy profoundly changed television, movies, pop culture and the world.
