Since forming in 1974, Chris Difford, Glenn Tilbrook and a revolving door of other members have been pounding out pop gold as the band Squeeze. Their second reunion since breaking up in 1982 brought them to the beautiful, nature-engulfed Greek Theatre.

The release of its back catalogue reissues and a new “best of” album, Essential Squeeze, earlier this year is what brought this fabulous band out of the woodwork.

The pulsing rhythm of “Take Me I’m Yours” began the set, and the group followed it with approximately 22 more dance-worthy, smile-inducing songs including hits, “Annie Get Your Gun,” ”Another Nail in My Heart,” “Goodbye Girl,” “Is That Love?” and perhaps their best known, “Tempted.”

Tilbrook and Difford were joined by John Bentley on bass for the first time since their last reunion show in ’85, and Tilbrook’s touring band, the Fluffers, rounded out the rest of the cast.

Thank Tilbrook and Difford for putting out such great, timeless, pop music to be appreciated for years to come by new generations. I’m glad I was there to witness such pop genius.
