“All you can do as an intelligent person is to try and not add to the sum of human misery,” says Robyn Hitchcock in this rather uninteresting documentary about a rather interesting man.

Hitchcock is an English singer-songwriter who’s had notoriety as an underground cult artist for three decades, but is by no means a household name. In Robyn Hitchcock: Sex, Food, Death … and Insects we get an hour long peek at Hitchcock’s creative process as he jams with various musician friends, including Scott McCaughey of REM, Chris Ballew of Presidents of the USA and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin.

As entertaining as it is to witness a few great musicians develop their craft, the film comes off like a Sunday reunion of aging musicians well past their primes.
