The softly lit Hotel Café served as the perfect backdrop to a set by Rebecca Pidgeon. Her voice barely reveals the native dialect of her Scottish roots, but her accent can be heard when she banters with the crowd in between songs. Her bossa nova-inspired songs are fresh and fun, and when coupled with her slower tunes, you feel like you’re taking a ride through a story that you might want to listen to again.

The topics of the songs are fresh, current and bring to life some things most of us don’t think about. “Army Brat” is written from the perspective of a wife whose husband is in the military as she resides back in the States with her family waiting for him. It’s tough and sincere, yet gentle enough to make you think a little deeper – and that’s good for all of us.
