Hey, what's better than a show starring Ricky Gervais (of UK “The Office” fame)? How about a show starring two Ricky Gervaises?

Actually, hold that thought. Gervais' turn as struggling actor Andy Millman feels awfully similar to his stint as struggling middle manager David Brent, and the comedy scales are further imbalanced by Ashley Jensen playing almost the same character as fellow struggling thespian Maggie Jacobs.

The diverse comedy stylings found in “The Office” are missed. Worse yet, the funniest and most interesting character in “Extras” – Stephen Merchant as agent Darren Lamb – doesn't even appear in every episode.

All that said, the show still is pretty funny. And the inclusion of a special guest star each week (Samuel L. Jackson, Kate Winslet and Ben Stiller, among others) means plenty of opportunities for famous faces to play completely against type, mock themselves or both.
