This film attempts to encapsulate the king of daytime talk’s life and career, from 1961 to 1982, incorporating clips from different periods on the show as well as commentary from talking heads, including such unlikely former guests as Gene Simmons.

While there are some interesting highlights (John Lennon playing alongside hero Chuck Berry, Tiger Woods’ first TV appearance) and trivia (Douglas provided the uncredited singing voice for Prince Charming in Disney’s Cinderella), more interesting would’ve been a collection containing the full interviews and performances with such luminaries as Louis Armstrong, Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King and Ingrid Bergman, just to name a few.

Some extended clips of interviews are included in the special features, which feature Paul Newman, Alfred Hitchcock, John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
