Well, it's one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, now go, cat, go...straight back in time at Cafe 50's, West L.A., where you "Eat to the Beat." Here you bebop, stroll and swing as you devour the goodies inside a bona fide diner.

Open for about 18 years, Cafe 50's. screams fun. The jukeboxes are always blaring (try not to dance on the tables), the staff are cool cats and likely to ask, "What's buzzin cuzzin?" and the walls are covered with memorabilia.

When at Cafe 50's, 2005 is a distant memory. Take out your poodle skirts, bowling shirts, oxfords, bobby socks, slicked back ducktails, flat tops and leather jackets.

This food is terrific with colossal portions, retro prices and a zillion menu items. The best hamburgers, sandwiches, breakfasts, salads and other tasty morsels are always on hand.

Cafe 50's is famous for its milkshakes made with rich, creamy ice cream (you can get them made with nonfat yogurt, but why would you?). Here are a few examples of why diet is a four letter word when discussing some of their 31 milkshakes: the Homemade Fudge Brownie Shake, the Butterfinger Shake, the Chocolate Banana Shake, the S'more Shake, the Hawaiian Shake and the Peanut Butter & Jelly Shake. Tough decisions.

There are always jollies in the works at Cafe 50's. Try Wacky Wednesdays on the last Wednesday of each month - your meal is free if you're wearing traditional pajamas.
