Next to Chinatown, Lawrence Kasdan’s Body Heat is one of the best neo-noirs. Kathleen Turner is the femme fatale who seduces a small town lawyer (William Hurt) and convinces him to murder her husband. Set during a Florida heat wave, the whole film swelters and amps up Hurt and Turner’s sexual chemistry.

It’s an ingenious, twisty noir in the tradition of The Postman Always Rings Twice and Double Indemnity. In one of his earliest roles, Mickey Rourke appears as an arsonist.
