Since former CIA agent Robert Baer released his first The Cult of the Suicide Bomber documentary, two new kinds of suicide bombers have emerged on the scene: the female and the western-raised suicide bomber. As in the first film, Baer delves into the psyche of the suicide bomber to discover what would motivate a person to turn him/herself into a human bomb.

Baer’s search for answers leads him to a high security Palestinian women’s prison where failed suicide bombers serve out their sentences and the neighborhoods where they lived.

This series focuses on the ideology behind the act. It does not spend much time on the societal woes that make this ideology so appealing to the disenfranchised masses.

Grade: B+
