Another summer is here, and I haven't been this excited since pre-pandemic. My favorite part of the summer starts on the weekends at 7AM when I get up early, pack my car and head to Lifeguard Stand 22 at Santa Monica Beach. This is my alone time part of my week. Sometimes, I'll invite some of my boys and bring down all my boogie boards, but most of the time it's just me with my ear pods, Spotify and a good book. Since it is so early when I get down there, I get a great parking space and set up shop on pretty much an empty beach with the exception of the surfers, who have been in the water at least a good hour before I arrive. I love Santa Monica Beach especially when it is low tide. I start my beach stay by taking a run to the Santa Monica Pier and watch the birds scramble away from my feet as they smash down on a thin layer of glistening water that rests upon the wet sand.  After my run, I'll grab my boogie board and join the surfers by riding waves in the cool morning water.  Afterwards, I'll kick back in my chair, take a long rest and enjoy the warmth of the sun at it beats down on my body.  While I lay there looking out at the ocean, I think about my days at the beach in Asbury Park. 

I've certainly tried to take care myself doing all the right things of eating well, exercising and keep my stress to a minimum.  However, the one thing I haven't been doing regularly is taking care of my skin especially when I'm at the beach.
