Packaged in a nifty skull case, this series contains 13 one-hour episodes from some of horror’s greatest directors. Highlights include: John Carpenter’s disturbing “Pro-Life,” which stars Ron Perlman as a religious fanatic who wages war on an abortion clinic after his daughter seeks refuge there.

John Landis’s Psycho-meets-The ’Burbs film, “Family,” stars George Wendt as a kind of suburban Norman Bates trying to construct the ideal nuclear family when he sets his sights on his neighbor’s wife. Italian master Dario Argento’s sleazy, horrific “Pelts” is a gruesome, black-as-night morality tale starring Meat Loaf as a fur-peddler obsessed with a stripper.

Other directors include Joe Dante, Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator), Brad Anderson (Session 9).
