UCLA Chancellor Gene D. Block releases his letter to the UCLA campus community, highlighting the crucial advancements of the academic year 2010-11. Firstly, at least ten faculty members were elected by the Obama administration. Three students received the Charles E. Young Humanitarian Award for their volunteerism and service to the community. The largest freshmen class was admitted to UCLA. Other milestones are awareness projects for diversity and values among everyone on and around campus, such as the video for It Gets Better Project and the Dream Act legislation. Finally, despite the financial troubles that all UC face, UCLA continues to thrive on the continued support and donations of alumni and those who admire UCLA, notably the Lincy Foundation donated $200 million to create the Dream Fund.
