With an all-star cast including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jake Gyllenhaal and Sir Anthony Hopkins, Proof – which releases in theaters Sept. 16 – is based on the David Auburn play about a devoted daughter (Paltrow) who must come to terms with the death of her father (Hopkins). In this wonderfully multi-layered story, the deceased father in question was a brilliant mathematician plagued by extreme mental illness. His daughter, after searching through her father’s old notebooks in order to find out more about his life and intelligence, discovers that she may have inherited more than just her father’s genius.

Proof will be screened at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Hollywood’s ArcLight Cinemas as part of AFI’s ongoing "Directors Screenings." Following the special screening, there will be a Q&A discussion with Hopkins, as well as Proof director John Madden (who also directed Paltrow in Shakespeare in Love).

ArcLight Hollywood is located at 6360 W. Sunset Blvd., in Hollywood. For more information about this and other upcoming AFI at ArcLight events, call (323) 464-1478 or visit www.arclightcinemas.com
