On Thursday, the Los Angeles City Council unanimously voted to eradicate the controversial red-light camera program by the end of July. This means that by August 1, no more red-light cameras will be operating. Since 2004, more than 180,000 motorists have been cited and many have neglected to pay their fines. One of the biggest conflicts with this program is that authorities cannot force ticketed red-light camera violators to pay their tickets.
