According to an online piece by ABC News, the Senate Minority Leader declared that it is the White House, not Congress, that is preventing an agreement to avoid the student loan rates from doubling in July. Interestingly enough, both the Democrats and Republicans have agreed that subsidized Stafford loan rates should not be doubled next month. Currently, the rate is at 3.4% and it could shift to 6.8%.
