Athletes and coaches made their way to the Montalban Theater Sunday to take part in Seattle Seahawks’ head coach Pete Carroll's 2nd annual Nike Win Forever workshop. Nike hosted the event, which focused on ways coaches can become better, and was followed by a screening of the Academy Award-winning film Undefeated.

Before filing into the theater, each participant was given a “Win Forever” wristband, and a notebook and pen in order to take notes during the workshop. The crowd was encouraged to be active by asking questions, and was even given the opportunity to try on the new Nike Lunar shoes with sensors to track their workout performance.

WinForever.com was also streaming the event to millions across the world who were interested in learning the crucial elements of coaching and mentoring. Coach Carroll, Yogi Roth and the Win Forever staff helped present, "The New Generation of Coaches for the Next Generation of Athletes".

"We want to help you help the kids have a good time, have a great experience, love the game that they play, love the sports that they play, and make an experience they want to share with their family and for the rest of their life,” said Carroll.

The workshop was broken up into three sections: self-discovery, practice and performance. The presentations focused on how to create a strong foundation in student-athletes that goes beyond football, money and trophies. Focusing on a foundation of character, strength and competition provides athletes with key elements that they can apply not only to sports, but in life.

"I want people to leave knowing the importance of understanding the power of a philosophy, because if you don't have one, how do you expect your assistants to carry your message,” said Yogi Roth, one of the founders of Win Forever. “You have to be consistent and really ask yourself some difficult questions. Ask, ‘What do I stand for?’ Everyone in football runs the same plays when you get down to it, but it's how you motivate, how you guide a team to achieve their common goal, which hopefully maximizes their individual and collective potential."

The workshop emphasized that each coach is given the opportunity to make an impact in their community, and leave a mark in their players life. Coaches can impact their players negatively and positively, but in order to be effective, they need to have balance, positive reinforcement, confidence, trust and focus.

When looking at the player-coach relationship Bill Courtney said it the best: "Players win games, coaches win players."
