With a 5-2 victory in their opener against Metapán Thursday night, the Los Angeles Galaxy began play in the CONCACAF Champions League in dominant form. English midfielder David Beckham scored once and assisted on two goals.

Irish striker Robbie Keane was issued a red card during the second half. Midfielder Landon Donovan (hamstring) did not see action.

The win, which came at The Home Depot Center in Carson, places the Galaxy in first place of their group standings. The Galaxy entertain FC Dallas Sunday, but their next CCL game August 29 against the Puerto Rico Islanders. Both are home affairs for L.A.
