Just as many predicted, the USC Trojans football team got off to a solid start after winning their season opener, 49-0, against Hawaii at the Los Angeles Coliseum Saturday night. USC quarterback Matt Barkley, a Heisman Trophy candidate, contributed 377 passing yards and four touchdowns. Receiver Marqise Lee caught 10 passes for 197 yards.

Despite the admirable victory, the Trojans are ranked No. 2 this week. Alabama is the top-ranked team nationally.
