UCLA's senior running back Johnathan Franklin became the school's all-time leading rusher after collecting 162 yards on the ground in the team's 62-10 impressive victory over the visiting Arizona Wildcats Saturday night at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena before 81,673 fans.

With the win, the Bruins improved to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in Pac-12 play. Arizona, on the other hand, dropped to 5-4 and 2-4, respectively.

Last week, the Bruins ranked 25th in the nation via the AP Top 25. Today, they moved up eight spots to 17th after earning 446 points and a dominating performance over the then 24th-ranked Wildcats. In the USA Today poll, the Bruins are ranked 19th.

Franklin, who scored twice, broke the record on a 37-yard touchdown run in the first quarter that eventually gave UCLA a 7-0 edge with 12:27.

"It's a great feeling. All praises to my teammates," Franklin said after the game. "They have pushed me every day - the linemen blocking for me and the receivers working down field. All those guys open up the big holes, and I just run through them. I was just thinking about doing whatever I can to help my team win. That helped contribute to the team."

After Franklin's initial opening drive TD, UCLA simply kept scoring and scoring, and they never looked back on an Arizona team that beat the USC Trojans earlier in the season (39-36 on Oct. 27 in Tucson). Franklin, who now sports a career rushing total of 3,873 yards, had 24 carries.

UCLA head coach Jim Mora expressed his content to Franklin's accomplishment.

"He's just an inspiration to all of his teammates, he's an inspiration to me," said Mora. "It's his night; what a classy kid."

Mora, who is in his first year at UCLA, was also pleased with the defense. "They played disciplined," he said. "They tackled well, which is important to do against a team with a lot of playmakers. Our coverage and our rush meshed well tonight."

At halftime, the Bruins led the Wildcats by a score of 42-3. Franklin had rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries, while freshman quarterback Brett Hundley amassed 195 passing yards and two touchdowns on 17-of-20 attempts.

The Bruins netted 21 points in each of the first two quarters, but they added one TD and field goal in the third before scoring two rushing TDs in the fourth.

UCLA out-produced Arizona in every major category: first downs (36 to 18), total yards (611 to 257), third down conversions (8 to 3), and turnovers (0 to 3), among others.

For the game, Hundley finished with 288 passing yards and three TDs. Eleven different receivers caught passes, led by senior Joseph Fauria's 81 yards and two TDs on five receptions. Fauria's scores included a 28-yard TD catch from Hundley with 5:21 in the third.

UCLA, which has three games remaining, continues its 2012 campaign with a trip to Washington to face the Washington State Cougars in Pullman on Saturday, Nov. 10. Kick-off is at 7:30 p.m.

"We just have to keep working hard in practice," Franklin said. "We understand the position that we have put ourselves in. Our leadership has to step up and keep guys focused. If we keep working, things should fall into place."
