Behind 28 points and seven rebounds from center Dwight Howard, the Los Angeles Lakers captured their first victory of the 2012-13 NBA season over the visiting Detroit Pistons at Staples Center on Sunday night. Los Angeles, which is now 1-3, won 108-79. Kobe Bryant contributed 15 points and eight assists, while Metta World Peace scored 18 points and Pau Gasol added 14. 

The Lakers hadn't started 0-3 at home since 1959. L.A. next plays the Jazz in Utah on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m.
