Lighting up might be getting a little more expensive in the coming year. President Obama's proposed tobacco tax would ad 94 cents to the existing federal tax rate, bringing the total tax on a single pack to $1.95. The revenue generated from the tax will go to the fund education initiatives and will hopefully serve as a way to reduce national smoking rates. 2009’s 62-cent tax hike served to reduce tobacco sales by 10 percent, according to the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.
