Since the Summer Olympics in 1984, no staged sporting event that big has hit Los Angeles. However, that will change in 2015 when the Special Olympics World Summer Games come to town.

The 2015 games will be conducted throughout L.A. with many spaces hosting events. Golf will take place at Griffith Park, the Convention Center will transform into five stadiums for roller skating, handball and bocce, and Lucky Strike will host bowling.

Even the local universities will be involved in the games, with USC and UCLA dorms becoming the athletes' villages.

The Special Olympics will bring about $415 million to the regional economy.
