This is not a joke: On Sunday, Jan. 12, you can get away with not wearing pants on the Los Angeles Metro thanks to an annual event called No Pants Subway (err, in this case Metro) Ride.

Improv Everywhere started this global phenomenon in New York City in 2002 as a small prank, and it eventually turned into an "international celebration of silliness."

Now, people in L.A. (and other cities as well) get to participate in a "top secret" mission. Here are the details on L.A's 2014 mission:

Travel pants-less throughout the LA Metro System from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with five rendezvous points in Pasadena, East L.A., North Hollywood, Koreatown and Culver City. You can start at whichever station is most convenient for you. Bring $5 for a Metro Day Pass on your TAP card ($6 if you need to purchase a TAP card and the Day Pass) as well as pants you can easily move.
