Part of the typical college experience is living in a dorm during the first year with a roommate. However, what used to be the norm might soon by the unique.

The Atlantic published an article regarding the increase in demand for single dorm rooms and the rapid decline of the traditional two-person dorm room.

In the article, it explains such a decision can change the dynamic of college dorm life. A freshman attending the University of South Carolina, Spencer Kiessling, said, "With a private room, it’s very easy to find yourself cut off from a social life.”

A college newspaper from Iowa State named The Iowa State Daily questioned the credibility of the roommate picking process. This is a response to the growing concern that an incompatible roommate could cause stress and anxiety.
