An outfit is never truly complete without the proper accessories. In order to feel fully dressed, I often find an extra pop of spice, such as jewelry, to be an essential part of an outfit.

To make sure you are at the top of your jewelry game, there is a group of women passionate about finding the coolest, most unique beads out there.

On Sunday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Bead Society of Los Angeles will be hosting a Bead Bazaar at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium.

The society is made up of a number of avid bead collectors and enthusiasts who desire to share their knowledge with as many people as they can. Each vendor gets the opportunity to set up his or her own booth and show off their extensive and interesting bead collections for viewing and purchasing purposes. They're going to be super keen to talk about what they’re selling, so expect to learn all there is to know about beads, including their intriguing histories.

Also, some of the vendors and society members are historians and scholars in the realm of beads; you can count on this bazaar to be an immersion of history and art, as well as fashion!

Vintage beads, rare cultural beads, even beaded purses—the Bead Bazaar will be a feast for your eyes. Some of the vendors have even figured out a way to make sculptures out of beads, which is pretty impressive in my book.

The event will also involve jewelry-making demonstrations and activities geared specifically to kids.

The organization's president, Diana Friedberg, created a five-part documentary series called World on a String that analyzes the history of mankind through the bead. Her work spans five continents, so expect this bazaar to represent many different places and cultures too.

Who would have thought there is so much to learn about this tiny accessory item? The truth is beads have been both beautiful and emotionally significant for many cultures and societies.
