In the world of television, there’s a simple formula that happens at every network: a network orders numerous TV pilots but keeps only a few to air in the upcoming season's schedule.

The complete fall 2014 pilot list for major networks ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and the CW was released and listed on Entertainment Weekly earlier this week. After taking a look at them, it’s obvious that many of these shows would stand out to the college crowd.

So, here are the shows we’re hoping (cross your fingers!) will make the fall 2014 lineup…but truthfully most of them probably won’t. With that being said, don’t get your hopes up too high.

COMEDIES

1. "How I Met Your Dad"
Network: CBS
Genre: Comedy

Those of you who loved "How I Met Your Mother" are probably more than happy to know that a "How I Met Your Dad" is in the works. This show tells the story from a female point of view and will feature a brand new plot, voice and characters. Greta Gerwig and Meg Ryan will star, with the latter being the voice of “future Sally” in the spinoff.

2. "Galavant"
Network: ABC
Genre: Comedy/Musical

This show sounds like a "Once Upon a Time"-meets-"The Sound of Music" mash-up! Seriously, besides “Glee,” there isn’t a comedic musical TV show out there. And with “Galavant,” we would get a fairy-tale musical complete with a handsome prince seeking revenge against a king who stole his one true love. Rejoice!

3. "Selfie"
Network: ABC
Genre: Comedy

Just by reading the title of this show you can tell it's going to be modern and resonate well with today's millennials. It's about a 20-something woman who likes getting "likes" rather than being liked -- make sense? Well, after she goes through a public breakup, she becomes the subject of a viral video that tarnishes her reputation. Soon, she's gaining more and more social media "followers" for all the wrong reasons, damaging her image. Ah, good ol' social media.

4. Untitled Tina Fey/Robert Carlock project
Network: NBC
Genre: Comedy

We already sort of knew that Tina Fey was cooking something up, so let's hope it actually comes through! This comedy is about a rescued woman who spent 15 years living in a cult. After doing a "Today Show"  interview, she starts her new life in New York City.

5. "Far East Orlando"
Network: ABC
Genre: Comedy

Taking it back to the '90s is "Far East Orlando," a show about a "fresh off the boat" Taiwanese family that must adjust living in an Orlando suburb. College students who have moved to different cities (or even different countries) to attend their schools could probably relate to this family's struggle of maintaining its cultural identity.

6. "Save the Date"
Network: CBS
Genre: Comedy

This show is about a recently single woman who books a wedding venue while drunk. Now, she has to scramble and find "the one" in time before the wedding. Starring Maggie Lawson and Michelle Trachtenberg ('90s kids: this is Harriet the Spy! Or, aka "Gossip Girl's" Georgina!), "Save the Date" is sure to be full of funny moments college females will especially enjoy.

7. "A to Z"
Network: NBC
Genre: Comedy

Finally, a show about online dating, something most of us have probably tried but aren't exactly open to admit! This series is set at a online dating company that "details the 'A to Z's' of a relationship." Starring Cristin Milioti ("How I Met Your Mother"), Ben Feldman, Henry Zebrowski and Lenora Crichlow.

8. "Good Session"
Network: CBS
Genre: Comedy

Mandy Moore is back in the comedy about a couple that decides to go to therapy in hopes that they will figure out if they are ready for a baby. Former '90s-pop sweetheart Moore hardly disappoints in her acting roles--just take a look at A Walk to Remember and The Princess Diaries--so we're betting "Good Session" will be equally as good.

9. "Cabot College"
Network: Fox
Genre: Comedy

Ever wondered what it would be like to go to an all-female college? "Cabot College" will give you insight as it depicts an all-female university in rural New Hampshire. However, there’s a twist: four men are allowed into the college for the first time ever--every college man's dream, right? This show also has Tina Fey's name on it, which means it will most definitely be hilarious.

10. Untitled Kevin Hart project
Network: ABC
Genre: Comedy

This show doesn't have a title yet, but if Kevin Hart is behind it, you know it's going to be funny! Hart will star in this show that's, well, about Kevin Hart. It's based on the comedian's life and stand-up, asking the question: "Can a man and woman ever truly be friends after they've divorced?" Our answer is "no," but we're curious to see what this show discovers!

11. “The Flash”
Network: The CW
Genre: Comedy

Yes, that’s correct: this series is based on our favorite superhero published by DC Comics. It's about The Flash, who becomes the fastest man alive. Everyone loves a good superhero show, and although "Heroes" will return to NBC next year, we need something now! Let's hope "The Flash" gets the green light.

12. Untitled Jeff Lowell project
Network: ABC
Genre: Romantic Comedy

Again, this show doesn't have a name yet (it might be "My Thoughts Exactly"), but it sure sounds like a series every young adult can relate to. In the show, a young couple tries to start a new relationship, and we hear their unfiltered internal monologues. "America's Next Top Model" alum Analeigh Tipton stars alongside "Greek's" Jake McDorman.

DRAMAS

13. "How to Get Away with Murder"
Network: ABC
Genre: Drama

Attention law students or prospective law students: this is a series you would probably get addicted to. As its title suggests, this show will demonstrate a thing or two about handling a murder plot. It's been described as a "sexy" and "suspense-driven" thriller, where law students and their criminal defense professor get tangled up in a murder plot that could "rock their entire university." Shonda Rhimes ("Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal") is penning it, and it will star two-time Oscar nominee, Viola Davis.

14. “iZombie”
Network: The CW
Genre: Dramas

We’re sure every med student has felt like a zombie at one point or another during the school year, pulling all-nighters while studying for finals and midterms. “iZombie” takes it to another level, though. In the show, a female med student-turned-zombie works in the coroner’s office and reluctantly eats human brains to maintain her humanity. However, as she consumes each brain, she inherits the corpses’ memories—sounds a  little like Warm Bodies, right? But there's an unusual twist: thanks to the corpses' memories, she’s able to assist in homicide cases related to their deaths. Being a zombie has perks, evidently.

15. "State of Affairs"
Network: NBC
Genre: Drama

It looks like Katherine Heigl managed to find herself a TV gig (if it makes the cut, of course) after bouncing away from "Grey's Anatomy." Unlike the medical drama, "State of Affairs" is a political drama where a CIA attache (Heigl) balances her personal life and her job, which is counseling the president on incidents all around the world.

16. "Emerald City"
Network: NBC
Genre: Drama

Yes, it's another adaptation of Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz, but this miniseries is focused on the 14-book series, meaning it's probably more legit! Twenty-year-old Dorothy goes on a journey into the middle of a bloody battle over the control of Oz. We're betting this dark version of our favorite childhood story will be wayyy better than the most recent movie adaption featuring James Franco and Mila Kunis (no offense).

17. "Dangerous Liaisons"
Network: ABC
Genre: Drama

"Dawson's Creek" starlet Katie Holmes returns to acting in a story about the love and rivalry between two powerful socialites. Also starring Rufus Sewell, "Dangerous Liaisons" features obsessive attraction, manipulation and seduction--it's the perfect distraction from doing homework!

18. “Babylon Fields"
Network: NBC
Genre: Drama

Anthropology majors might get a kick out of this "The Walking Dead"-meets-"Resurrection" (we're guessing?) series about the dead reappearing in Babylon, N.Y.  When these born-again bodies become stronger and faster than ever, you're left wondering: What's going on? Is this the next step in human evolution? Meagan Good stars in this drama.

19. "Gotham"
Network: Fox
Genre: Drama

Anything Batman related will have us more than excited. "Gotham" stars Ben McKenzie and Jada Pinkett Smith, and is based on another DC Comic. In this series, we'll learn about the origins of Commissioner James Gordon and his battle with Gotham City's villains. We'll even see how the Penguin, Joker, Catwoman, Riddler and Two-Face came to be. Chills!

20. "Secrets & Lies"
Network: ABC
Genre: Drama

Cruel Intentions hottie Ryan Phillippe (*melts*) stars in this series about a man who becomes the suspect in the murder of a young boy. We're betting Phillippe didn't do it, though -- just look at his face! Juliette Lewis (August: Osage County), also stars in this suspenseful drama.

21. "Empire"
Network: Fox
Genre: Drama

Terrence Howard (Iron Man, Hustle & Flow) seems like the perfect actor for this show, which is about a family set in the world of a hip-hop empire. It'll feature current and original music, and comes from The Butler duo, Lee Daniels and Danny Strong. Macy Gray is even expected to star!

Well, there you have it. According to Entertainment Weekly, we’ll begin hearing networks announce their fall schedules starting May 12, so get ready!
