Reel Talk with Stephen Farber – which is now based at the Wadsworth Theater in Angeles – continues its spring season on Monday, March 27 with a special screening of On a Clear Day, which releases in theaters April 7.

Directed by Gaby Dellal (who helmed the 2001 British film Football), On a Clear Day is a moving film about a Glasgow, Scotland shipbuilder named Frank (Peter Mullan) who, after suddenly being laid off, decides that he needs a new sense of direction in his life. Frank also finds himself contemplating his life’s relationships with his longtime wife (Brenda Blethyn) and three friends (Billy Boyd, Ron Cook and Sean McGinley), and feels quite alone.

So, when one of his buddies spouts an off-kilter remark, Frank is inspired to challenge himself, and he does so by attempting the near-impossible; he decides to swim the English channel. The film – which was shot on location in Glasgow, the Isle of Man and Dover – is really about what happens when one person decides to swim from one part of his life into another.

Following the March 27 screening (which begins promptly at 7 p.m.), Farber – the film critic for Movieline’s Hollywood Life and frequent contributor to both the Los Angeles Times and New York Times – will host a special Q&A session with director Dellal.

The Wadsworth Theatre is located at 11301 Wilshire Blvd., in Brentwood. Tickets are $17 per person, per screening. To purchase tickets, call (310) 479-3636 or visit the Theatre box office Mon.-Fri. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information on the series or upcoming films, visit www.richmarkent.com.a>
