The reigning U.S. and Australian Open champion will return to Indian Wells this year. After sister Venus pulled out of their 2001 semifinal, Serena was loudly booed throughout her final match against Kim Clijsters while their father and Venus were allegedly taunted in the stands. The Williams sisters never played the Southern California tournament again.
