Based on a comic book series that began in 1963, the XMen movies tell the story of Professor Charles Xavier and his team of X-Men, who protect mankind despite the many people in power who are working to get rid of them. Like all mutants, the X-Men possess the “X gene,”which gives them their unique set of abilities, ranging from telepathy to weather control to superhuman strength.
