The Ken Paves Salon is housed in a historic 1930’s compound designed by American architect John Elgin Woolf. The storefront entrance takes you into the salon itself, where stylists cut, color and blowout customers. However, walking down the side corridor entrance, you are lead into an enchanting courtyard that is part of the backend of the salon. Such was the case, when I went to the salon this past week for a celebration of the collaboration between Ken Paves and Taiwan luxury hair-care brand SH-RD.
According the Ken Paves Salon website, for more than 20 years, Ken Paves has remained one of the most sought after and arguably the most recognizable hairstylist in the world. Oprah Winfrey has called him “the big Kahuna of Hollywood hair.” He has been celebrated for his work which has appeared in the pages of Vogue, Marie Claire, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Allure, Glamour, O Magazine, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, Seventeen, GQ, In Style, American Salon, Modern Salon and many other publications internationally. In fashion and entertainment he has created award-winning styles on the tresses of Victoria Beckham, Eva Longoria, Lady GaGa, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica and Ashlee Simpson, Celine Dion, Nicole Richie, Fergie, Taylor Swift, Eve, Megan Fox, and David Beckham and Marc Anthony to name a few.
Thus, bringing Ken Paves’s pedigree together with the Taiwan based SH-RD was a natural fit. SH-RD prides itself on enhancing the natural and priceless beauty of a woman’s hair. The vibe at the event was relaxed and friendly as guests swung back and forth between the salon and courtyard sipping on their alcoholic boba drinks while watching the Ken Paves Salon team styling out tastemakers such as Diana Madison (dianamadison), London Ellis (london_ellis), Youtuber, Luna Montana (lunamontana), Nazy Farnoosh (nazyfarnoosh) and Suzy Shattuck (suzyshattuck). This group took part in a before and after photo shoot to give their fans a clear picture of what using SH-RD Haircare products can do for your hair. While this was going on, the charismatic Ken Paves worked the room kicking back with guests and taking photographs.
In addition to the boba drinks, an assortment of sushi rolls, cheese & meat platters compliments of Barsha Wines and Spirits were served to guests. As the evening drew to a close, no one left empty handed as gift bags consisting of SH-RD haircare products, green velvet scrunchies, pearlized headbands, and jeweled barrettes were distributed to guests. In addition to Barsha Wines and Spirits, the event was sponsored by Labobatory, Sushi Fire, and Proud Source Water, which kept party-goers hydrated with their aluminum bottles filled with pristine rocky mountain spring water. Music for the evening was provided by DJ HAUTE.
