Tipsy Chef Brings Together Cocktails, Cuisine and Community

Tipsy Chef announced today they are officially open for business with a new and modern concept of the elevated neighborhood restaurant and bar. The location on Main Street, inside the historic Frank Gehry designed Edgemar Center for the Arts, offers communal-style dining with shareable dishes reminiscent of eating at home with friends. A warm and engaging environment with an industrial-chic vibe and open floor plan, Tipsy Chef offers a menu of California-inspired cuisine studded with global influences and hyper-local ingredients.

Brought to you by the minds behind Brick + Mortar, restaurateurs Justin Safier and Travis Lester of Broseph’s Restaurant Group (BRG) deliver a tailored culinary experience designed to fill the specific needs of the local community. The duo’s passion for creating a welcoming atmosphere with large, shareable plates, and the option for communal seating embodies their philosophy of operating like a family.

“Having lived on the Westside for nearly 20 years, and understanding our local community, our vision is for Tipsy Chef to become a Santa Monica go-to and favorite neighborhood Main Street restaurant, offering a little something for everyone. At Tipsy Chef we strive to turn every first-timer into a regular,” says Safier.

“The restaurant’s namesake is a product of our natural maturation from Brick + Mortar to a more elevated experience,” says Lester. "We want this to feel like cooking at home with friends where everyone is sharing their creations and imbibing exciting drinks."

Chef Drew Adams brings decades of experience to the innovative menu that reflects varied flavor profiles. His appreciation and access to fresh produce, local meats, and sustainable seafood is the cornerstone of his cooking. Food is presented as a shared plate experience to embrace the current trend and allow diners to try a variety of dishes. All menu items can be accompanied with the perfect beverage whether it's a beer, an eclectic wine, or one of the signature hand-crafted cocktails or mocktails. Diners can also request the “Tipsy Trip” allowing Chef Adams to prepare a four-course dinner of the moment for the table with an option to include alcohol pairings for an additional price.

Some of Tipsy Chef’s signature dishes include house-made Capellini with confit garlic, parmesan and miso butter; Braised Lamb Pappardelle with mint, pine nuts, and ricotta; Wild Mushroom Pizza topped with béchamel, truffle, and smoked mozzarella; Miso Sake glazed Black Cod; 24-oz. Tomahawk Pork Chop with kumquats and basil. Small plate favorites include Hamachi Crudo, Adobo Chicken Wings, Carrots with Pistachio-Vadouvan Gastrique, and Street Corn.

In addition to the 16-seat bar, the 3,500 square-foot restaurant is decorated with hanging greenery, and has an abundance of natural light with an appealing, relaxed atmosphere. There is also a courtyard with outdoor, dog-friendly patio seating, and a versatile private dining room that can seat up to 20 guests for meetings or celebrations.

On the weekends, Tipsy Chef offers a Bubbly Brunch including items such as Eggs in Purgatory with baked tomatoes, chilies, goat cheese and garlic sourdough; Corned Beef “Smash” with crispy fingerlings, sunny eggs and hollandaise sauce; and Butternut Squash with root vegetables, quinoa, brown and black rice with smoked almond vinaigrette. To complete the brunch experience, diners can enjoy a flight of freshly squeezed juices for a fun play on Mimosas or jalapeno-infused vodka for a tasty twist on a Bloody Mary.

Special “Tipsy Time” promotions throughout the week have a discounted menu Monday-Friday from 4-6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 3-6 p.m., and a late-night menu from 10 p.m. to close daily. Martini Mondays will offer $5 martinis, with food purchase; Tequila & Taco Tuesdays; and Westside Wednesdays offer a Bottle and Cheese & Charcuterie Board for $25.
