What if we never had to be stuck between a rock and a hard place? What if we could have our cake and eat it, too? When the late poet Robert Frost pondered about which road to travel, he made it evident that choices aren’t always the easiest to make.

But “Why Choose?” asks award-winning software, Parallels Desktop for Mac, which has provided Windows XP to run on Macs, thus giving the computer user the privilege of using either PC or Mac.

Sponsored by SWsoft, creator of the dual product, “Why Choose?” is a contest that gives filmmakers a chance to create three-minute videos explaining a time in their life when they did not have to choose between two great options – when they were able to have plenty of cake and eat all of it.

Using any artistic medium, whether photography, narration, animation, etc., amateur and professional filmmakers from around the world can participate by uploading their videos to the YouTube site by Dec. 9.

The grand prize winner will receive a trip for two to MacWorld 2008 in San Francisco, a 17-inch MacBook Pro, a Sony HDR-SR7 HD Handycam Camcorder and filmmaking software. Also, the runner up will receive a 13-inch Macbook with Windows XP Professional and an 8GB iPhone. All finalists will receive a free copy of Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac.

Registered colleges, high schools and film and art schools are encouraged to enter the “Why Choose?” contest. If the winning entrant is a student from one of the participating schools, a $10,000 IT grant will be awarded to the school’s department.

Participants can submit an unlimited number of creative, thoughtful videos. The first 100 contestants will be given a Parallels “Why Choose?” t-shirt.

Winners will be announced Dec. 27, and winning entries will appear at MacWorld in January 2008.
