California native Loose Logic gets kudos for effort on Before the Storm. Throughout the disc, he voices how and where he grew up, making several references to what his life was like growing up on the streets of Los Angeles.

Logic puts a little of that gangsta rap sound from the early ’90s into his tracks, when Westside Connection and Tupac were on the scene. He doesn’t hesitate to make clear his dislike for police on the track titled “Cali Shit” and still unnecessarily uses the word “bitch” in his songs as a reference to women.

Overall, Before the Storm sounds like what’s played on the major hip-hop radio stations.
