The Academy Awards are as much a part of Hollywood as the drug deals and overpriced parking – it wouldn’t be the same without it – and what better way to celebrate the big screen’s most revered awards show than by watching it on (duh) a big screen.

The folks at Cinefamily are determined to pack the Silent Movie Theatre for this year’s telecast, opening doors at 4 p.m. for pre-gamers who want to watch the Rivers team screech, “Who are you wearing?” on their “ginormous and storied silver screen.”

Come in your best designer dress (or fear Joan Rivers’ wrath), eat hors d’oeuvres, drink wine and sprawl out on one of their eight comfy couches. Enjoy the splendor of the 80th Academy Awards as show business’ elite trample a red carpet and accept gilded statues with tears of happiness in their eyes.

It will be like having an Oscar party in your own living room, but better and with more awesome moviegoers than you cared to invite.

You’ll laugh (at host Jon Stewart’s jokes). You’ll cry (at the probable Heath Ledger tribute montage). You’ll walk away with a year’s membership to Cinefamily (if you predict the winners).

So, just because they kind of earned it, don’t let the celebrities have all the fun on Oscar night. Hang out with a 30-foot tall Brangelina and let the Cinefamily treat you like the star we all know you are. No headshots, please.

The Silent Movie Theatre is located at 611 N. Fairfax Ave., Los Angeles. For more information, visit www.silentmovietheatre.com.
