Matt Boren evokes tortured sympathy as Mikey, a young husband and father living in Cali who decides to stop off at his parents’ loft while in New York for business. What begins with him telling his wife that it’s hard to see his parents grow old, and therefore, it’s difficult to detach himself from their side, spirals into a depressing, psychologically debilitating digression into his youth. He starts rummaging through old boxes, rekindling old friendships and even becomes too paralyzed to venture down the stairs of his parents’ place.

Though an interesting premise, the pace of Momma’s Man is way too slow – on purpose, I suppose.
