Breakfast with Scot is a charming comedy about a gay couple, Eric (Tom Cavanagh) and Sam (Ben Shenkman), who finds itself the sudden guardian of a precocious, effeminate 11-year-old boy, Scot, who likes brightly colored clothing, make-up and singing Christmas carols all year long. Eric and Sam gently gear Scot toward the more “boyish” athletic sport of hockey so that he will be more accepted and less teased.

Scot expands his horizons, makes friends at school, with the neighborhood bully even, and slowly builds trust in his new caregivers. Through tears and laughs, a tight bond forms, proving that in today’s blended families, mutual respect, love and understanding can make a house a home.

Grade: B Breakfast with Scot releases in select theaters Oct. 10.
