You can’t really say that this Detroit-based band channels the psychedelic ’60s or that they pay homage to that era – those descriptions are not good enough. This music really does have flowers in its hair, albeit some of the blossoms are hallucinations.

“The Book of Spectral Projections” comes close, but Outrageous Cherry doesn’t venture into acid psychedelia with wild guitar solos headed for outer or inner space. Instead the band favors short, radio-ready psych-poppers that recall the work of the Rolling Stones on their Their Satanic Majesties Request album, especially the lighter stuff like “She’s Like a Rainbow.”
