Sweetwater (Open Road) | In Theatres April 14, 2023

Last year, The Queen of Basketball won the Academy Award for short subject documentary. The film was about Lusia Harris who was the first and only woman to be drafted into the NBA in 1977. This year, the breaking of the color barrier in the NBA comes to the big screen with Sweetwater. The film is about Hall of Famer Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton who makes history as the first African American to sign an NBA contract with the New York Knickerbockers, forever changing how the game of basketball is played. Just in time for the playoffs, the NBA is coming on board as a promotional partner prior to the release of the film. Sweetwater will be in theatres on April 14. The film stars newcomer Everett Osborne as Sweetwater, Cary Elwes (Stranger Things), Jeremy Piven (Entourage), Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws) and Kevin Pollak (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel).
